State Girls Basketball Forecast – Day 3

Congratulations to class 2A team Western Christian, class 3A teams Mediapolis, Nevada, Crestwood, and Pocahontas, and class 4A teams Carlisle and Harlan for moving on to the Iowa girls basketball state semifinals!

Weather today with be bitterly colder compared to yesterday. Temperatures are only expected to climb to the upper teens with winds around 10 MPH from the northwest. This will lower wind chill temperatures to near or below zero for most of the day. No active weather concerns to talk about with partly cloudy skies leading to clear and very cold conditions overnight. We have a lot of great action today with quarterfinals finishing up and the first class 1A semifinal starting at 8:30 PM with Newell-Fonda and Burlington Notre Dame.

For the rest of the week, Thursday will be cold again before temperatures fly up on Saturday and Sunday. For the boys tournament next week, temperatures will be even warmer with 50s and 60s likely by the end of the week. I’m not sure about you, but I am definitely ready for a warm up. Nonetheless, good luck to all of the teams playing today – make your communities proud!
