1:00 AM: Light Snow, Freezing Rain, and Sleet Event Still on Track

A look at the radar early this morning shows light snow scattered over the state. However, much of this is not reaching the ground. Our radar is picking this precipitation up as snow, however Ottumwa last reported UP, or unknown precipitation, also known as the station not being able to identify what kind of precipitation is falling (sleet, snow, rain, etc). Everything thus far has remained light but this should pick up as we go farther through the night. Winter Weather Advisories are in effect across the north due to blowing snow and across the south due to sleet, snow, and freezing rain. Everybody should take it very easy as you travel to work this morning.

Latest snowfall totals have been trimmed down to one to three inches for entire northern part of state. Blowing snow will still be a concern. Up to five hundreths of an inch of ice will be possible across southern Iowa.

Stay tuned for the latest!
