2012 Year in Review: Severe Weather

There was a noticeable lack of severe weather this year with regards to tornadoes. The state had a confirmed 16 tornadoes for 2012, which is the lowest amount going back before 1980. All of the tornadoes were in the months of April and May. 7 of them occurred on the same day (April 14th). The total mileage of all 16 tornadoes was 52.2 miles. To take that into consideration, the Henryville IN tornado from March 2nd had a track length of 49 miles. There were 3 EF2 Tornadoes 6 EF1s and 7 EF0s. There were no fatalities and only 6 injuries (all on April 14th) 4 in Thurman and 2 in the Creston tornado (Both were EF2s). More on 2012s lack of tornadoes can be found here
