HOT!: The next two to three days will be very hot across the state. Temperatures will be in the mid to upper 90s across the state, with some locations possibly reaching 100°. With dewpoints in the mid 60s to around 70°, heat indices will easily surpass 100 and possibly go as high as 105°. A heat advisory could be possible over the next few days but it’s borderline as of now. In any case regardless if there is an advisory or not, be sure to stay hydrated and keep cool with this being the first summer heat wave of the year.

STORMY: Precipitation will return to the forecast by late on Wednesday into the rest of the week. A cold front will move through the state sparking off showers and thunderstorms. Severe Weather could be possible with any of the storms that develop. Temperatures will cool substantially behind the front, with readings falling into the 70s to near 80 across the state. However, the front will stall and the chances of rain won’t be going away anytime soon. It won’t be an all day rain event each day, and not everyone will see rain and storms each day through this period. The rain chances will begin to wane a week from today as the active pattern begins to move off and the ridge sets back up with heat and humdity returning next week.

MO RIVER FLOODING: The river continues to rise as is seen on the video at Sioux City, Omaha and Nebraska City. The river crest is likely sometime in the next 7-10 days depending on additional precipitation upstream. Keep up to date on any road closures or levee breaches if you have to travel in the area.

NOTE: The 7 Day Forecast is debuting on this video. It will be shown on each “MONDAY” video through the summer until Labor Day Weekend, in which Football Videos will return.
