WARMING INTO THE WORK WEEK: Readings will slowly warm back up after a cold day today with more clouds and some chance of a shower similar to what we saw yesterday as well. Highs today will be in the middle 50s across the northern counties where the chance of rain will be the greatest to the lower and middle 60s in the southern counties where there will be more sunshine and almost no chance of any rain. There will more partly to mostly sunny skies around on Monday with readings climbing into the 60s and perhaps a few lower 70s in the southern counties of the state. Tuesday will be another similar day with partly to mostly sunny skies and highs a few degrees warmer than on Monday.
THE NEXT STORM: The next system will move into the state late Tuesday night and continue through Wednesday, Thursday and the first half of Friday. There will be numerous rounds of showers and thunderstorms across the state. Some of the storms could become strong to severe but we still can’t pinpoint the threat at this time. We could see some decent amounts of rain as well with perhaps an inch possible across the state by the time the system moves away on Friday with some isolated heavier totals. We should have a better handle on the amount of severe weather in the coming days, but stay tuned nonetheless. Highs will really take off on Wednesday with readings in the upper 70s through the middle 80s. With dew points in the lower 60s, we could see heat indices approaching or exceeding 90 for the first time this year. Thursday will be slightly cooler with 70s to lower 80s from northwest to southeast, but this will be determined on the amount of sunshine we get outside any possible storm complexes that may form and move through during the overnight hours.
LOOKING FORWARD IN TIME: Readings will cool back into the 60s and lower 70s next weekend with another system coming in late Saturday into Sunday. Heading farther into the month, the pattern is still active with some storm systems. We do see some cooler weather around the middle of the month with the trough digging down across the eastern half of the country. We have been seeing this in other runs from time to time, but we’re still not too confident in that solution at this time. Other than that, readings look to remain near seasonal levels.
