Climbing The Temperature Scale

BOTTOMS UP: Temperatures will be warming up from now through the end of the week with skies remaining mainly sunny. Highs today will be in the upper 50s northeast to near 70 west. There will be a few more clouds in the eastern counties with the system that brought some scattered showers and storms last night departing the area. Temperatures will take a jump on Thursday as readings will range from the middle and upper 60s east to the middle and upper 70s far west. We should see widespread readings in the 80s on Friday as warm air really makes its mark into the state.

WEEKEND: The weekend still holds chances of some showers and thunderstorms, however the chances look to be more scattered than what we saw yesterday. A frontal system will move into the state on Saturday with a chance of some showers and storms along it. Outside the rain chances, skies will be cloudier than previous days but some sunshine may still peak through. Readings will be held back in the 70s for the most part on Saturday. Sunday shows some cooler air coming in across the northern counties of the state with the chances of precipitation aimed at the southern counties. However as mentioned yesterday, we really can’t rule out a chance of rain anywhere in the state on Sunday as yet. Readings will range from the upper 60s north through the middle 70s south.

NEXT WEEK: As we head into next week, the frontal system over the southern counties of the state on Sunday will move back north as a warm front Monday with rain chances overspreading the state once more. Another system will be moving in late Monday into Tuesday and Wednesday with a decent widespread chance of showers and thunderstorms. With the amount of cloudiness around, readings will continue to be held back into the 60s and lower 70s Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday will likely see 60s across the state. A quick peak later in the week shows a possible system moving through next Friday with some precipitation.

FURTHER OUT: Looking further into the extended period, another system is seen around the 16th to 18th time frame with showers and thunderstorms possible at that time. It is shown on the model run similarly to what we may see this coming weekend into next week with a frontal system south of the state lifting northward ahead of the main system in question. We have plenty of time to watch it in the coming days. Don’t see any extremes with regards to temperatures in the extended period, but there’s plenty of time for models to change, so stay tuned.
