SCATTERED STORMS: This will be possibly the warmest day in the next 7, with readings into the lower and middle 80s across the state. There will be a chance of some isolated showers and thunderstorms mainly in the western half of the state. Some of the storms could become strong and if we see a repeat of yesterday, some of them may become severe. Any storm could dump some brief heavy rainfall as well which may lead to some ponding of roads in some areas. Saturday will be more organized and widespread chances of rain and storms to the state. With the amount of cloudiness around, this will keep readings down into the upper 60s northwest to the middle and upper 70s east and southeast. Severe weather isn’t expected at this time but we’ll watch to see if this changes. Rainfall could be around a half inch with some isolated heavier totals. Sunday will be quieter with plenty of sunshine around and readings in the 70s.
NEXT WEEK: A storm system will be moving just to the south of the state Monday through early on Wednesday morning. This may bring a chance of some showers and thunderstorms mainly in the southern counties of the state at that time. The rest of the state will see partly to mostly sunny skies. Readings will be held down into the 70s for the first few days of the new work week. Another frontal system looks to come down from the northwest on Thursday which could bring yet another round of showers and storms at that time.
INTO THE UNKNOWN: The GFS shows a few systems moving through the area with readings mainly near seasonal temperatures. No real trends developing at this point, but we’ll keep watch for any in the coming days.
