COOLING OFF: A cold front will move into the state today with a slight chance at seeing some showers and thunderstorms. They will be hit or miss as many of the storm systems of late have been. The rain chances will continue through Wednesday night as the front slowly makes its way through the state. Readings today will range from near 80 in the northwest to the mid to upper 90s southeast. Readings after the frontal passage will drop into the mid 70s to lower 80s by the end of the week.
WEEKEND WET DWINDLING: The GFS as it has done for most of the last month as dried up a good deal of the rain that was forecast this coming weekend. There still is a crack at seeing some scattered showers and storms mainly on Sunday but those chances have really come down. Temperatures will begin to tick up as we head into the middle of the month with readings around the 80 degree mark (which is slightly above seasonal levels for mid-September). The rain chances albeit slight look to continue at least through Monday and Tuesday of next week but stay tuned to see if those chances dwindle as well.
FARTHER OUT: Still see some chances of rainfall in the extended period, particularly around the 19th-21st with one frontal system and another around the 25th. Confidence isn’t great with either system and some tropical activity is involved which could louse up the whole thing. Another keep an eye out type forecast.
