HOT DAYS: Today will be slightly cooler across the state except the southwestern counties with highs in the upper 70s NE to mid 90s SW. Temperatures could be held down in the northeastern counties where more clouds are forecast, but if that doesn’t materialize readings there will likely make it into the lower and middle 80s. Monday will be totally different with widespread mid to upper 90s throughout the state. It will be somewhat breezy as well. Heat indices may approach or exceed 100 in some areas but the humidity levels will not be as high as they were a week or so ago.

COLD FRONT RAIN: The cold front is still on track to move through the state Tuesday into early on Wednesday. There could be an isolated shower or storm chance late Monday night into Tuesday morning over the northern and northwestern counties with the rest of the state getting in on the action Tuesday night into Wednesday. There is a chance that these storms may not materialize and some areas may get left out of the rain once more. It would not be totally surprising at this point. High Pressure noses in from Canada which will bring much cooler conditions to the state with readings dropping back into the 70s and lower 80s across the state by the end of the week.

NEXT WEEKEND AND BEYOND: Another rain chance next weekend according to the GFS but we’re not buying that (given the amount of “rain” this model has seen and not materialized) over the last few weeks. A bit of a quick warm up before another storm moves in around the 18th and 19th that could bring widespread rain and storms to the state (where have you heard this before). Another storm around the 21st as well could bring rain as well along with much cooler conditions behind that system. We can only hope for more rain in this forecast with the drought ongoing.
