No Videos this Week due to MIC in Washington, DC
SNOW + MAJOR WARMUP = FOG: The National Weather Service offices in the north tier of Iowa have issued Dense Fog Advisories until 10am tomorrow thanks to all of this snow melting and being stuck at the surface. Fog will quickly dissipate after 10am as temperatures warm into the upper 50’s Northwest to nearly 70 Southeast. A few showers are possible today, primarily across Northeastern Iowa. Any accumulation shouldn’t amount to much.
EVENTUALLY QUIETER: The above story will continue for the most of the work week with fog likely into Tuesday and temperatures remaining steady in the 60’s and 70’s. Thunderstorms are possible in the later half the week across the Western portion of the state, with .75 to an inch of rain possible in the southern half with lighter amounts possible further north. Severe weather should remain to the West of Iowa into the Northern to Central Plains, however we will keep an eye on it. By next week the GFS and NAM are pointing to overall quiet over the state with temperatures in the 60’s and 70’s and a few 80’s.
FARTHER OUT: The GFS model is showing overall heavy thunderstorms over the western portion of the state next Saturday. This will likely provide some more drought relief across that area and hopefully wipe out the majority of the drought. And, if we keep on this trend, long term forecasts say we may have a precipitation surplus by the end of the spring/summer. A few disturbances look to move in during the middle to end of the month. Severe weather is not anticipated at this time.
