COOLER WEEKEND: The weekend will not be bad, but it’s not going to be warm either. It could be a whole lot worse, but will take 30s to near 40 for highs over this weekend. There is a chance of a few snow showers or flurries on Sunday with a disturbance along a warm front that will be moving through the state. A dusting at best is possible, maybe a tenth or two, but nothing like the snow that fell over the eastern counties yesterday.

WARMUP: Beyond the warm front temperatures rebound nicely. Monday will see readings back into the 40s statewide, maybe approaching 50 in southern Iowa. But Tuesday we’ll really see the temperatures soar, well into the 50s and even lower 60s. The winds will be breezy both days from the south and southwest at 10-25mph. A frontal system will put an end to the warm readings on Wednesday with some showers and thunderstorms.

SEASONALLY WARM: Following the front on Wednesday, temperatures drop back, but only into the 40s to near 50, which is still above average for the first week in March. A storm early the following week may drop temperatures to average but that’s in “voodoo” and could change. Overall looking in the next two weeks, there doesn’t seem to be any sort of late season arctic push or much of any snow across the region, a boondoggle for those who hate the winter season, and a depressive mood for those who want to sled and ride their snowmobiles once last time.
