STORMY TODAY: The eastern half of the state will be seeing some precipitation today while the western half sees little more than possibly a sprinkle or a flurry. A storm system that will also be responsible for a widespread severe weather outbreak across the Ohio and Tennessee River valleys later today and tonight will produce some rain and snow across our area. It will start this morning with some wintry mix changing to rain briefly before changing over to snow. It’s when the changeover to snow occurs that is key to the amount of snow we may see. The GFS and NAM are about on target with snow totals. The far eastern counties of Iowa into Illinois and Wisconsin will see anywhere from 2-4″ with heavier totals farther east toward Milwaukee. The precipitation should end from west to east during the late evening hours with a clear but cooler weekend ahead. Some Winter Weather Advisories will likely be issued for eastern Iowa later this morning.

WARMING UP: Temperatures rebound nicely to start the new work week. Monday, the winds will turn around to the south and southwest with temperatures climbing back into the 40s and 50s across the state. Tuesday will see readings climb farther with some 60s possible. This will be ahead of the next system that will be moving in Wednesday with some showers and thunderstorms. Readings cool off once more to end the week with another chance of precipitation by Friday of next week.
