SEVERAL STORMS: Som stormy conditions will move through the state over the coming week, with several rounds of showers and isolated thunderstorms possible. A weak disturbance will cross the state early today bringing a chance of rain through the afternoon hours across the eastern counties while the west will see most of the precipitation chances in the morning. Another weak storm is on the heels of this one on Friday night into Saturday morning with another round of showers and isolated thunderstorms, however a much larger storm system is in store for the early part of next week.
EARLY WEEK MESS: Monday into Tuesday could see some rounds of showers and thunderstorms. Some of the storms could be severe, the latest outlook isn’t out as of this post, but SPC has been discussing a possible severe weather risk area in the state for both days. This will need to be watched carefully over the coming days as things may change quickly. The storm will linger just to the south of the state which may bring southern Iowa rain into Wednesday and even Thursday. Flooding could be a concern especially with the Mississippi River still running high in SE Iowa. Much cooler air will return late next week with maybe another chance at frost across NE Iowa.
