Numerous showers and embedded thunderstorms developed this morning over the central portions of the state, mainly from Newton to Oelwein and moved over the same locations over the next few hours as they moved to the NE. Up to 5+ inches of rain fell according to rainfall estimates, in areas between Newton and Oelwein just since this morning.
Because of that, numerous Flash Flood Warnings are in effect,
Buchanan until 1:45pm
Jasper, Marshall, Poweshiek and Tama until 1pm
Boone and Hamilton until 3:30pm
Black Hawk until 12:30pm
Fayette County’s warning is expiring at the time of blog post.
More flash flooding is likely, and numerous flood watches and flash flood watches are now in effect for numerous counties across the eastern parts of the state. Drier weather will move back to the state late tomorrow.
