Wind Chills an Issue Tonight

A Wind Chill Warning has been issued from 6pm this evening until 9am Saturday morning for the following counties, Black Hawk, Bremer, Butler, Calhoun, Cerro Gordo, Emmet, Franklin, Grundy, Hamilton, Hancock, Hardin, Humboldt, Kossuth, Palo Alto, Pocahontas, Sac, Webster, Winnebago, Worth, Wright, Chickasaw, Fayette, Floyd, Howard, Mitchell and Winneshiek. Winds will be between 10-15mph throughout the night into the morning hours, with temperatures dropping below zero, this will lead to wind chill values in the -30 to -40 degree range. Frostbite can occur in ten to fifteen minutes or less in these conditions.

Outside of that, a Wind Chill Advisory covers the rest of the counties in the state from this evening until tomorrow morning (various expirations across the state). Wind Chills here will range from -20 to -30 overnight and into the morning hours.
