SEVERE WEATHER: There is a slight risk of severe weather for today and tonight across the southwestern half of the state. The main risk looks to be from damaging winds, with large hail and an isolated tornado the secondary risk. The best chances across the state will be across the far southwest. Severe Weather will move south and southeast of the state by Tuesday, but the chances of showers and thunderstorms will remain through at least the early part of Thursday. At least an inch of rain is possible through that time, with isolated heavier totals in areas that receieve numerous thunderstorms. This could result in some urban and small stream flooding especially in areas that received heavy rain last week. It will begin to dry out by Thursday afternoon with a semi-dry weekend in store (although some isolated showers are possible)

DOG DAYS:The heat and humidity looks to make a return, and its return isn’t far away according to the latest model run. The ridge of high pressure that brought the heat a week ago is forecast to strengthen across the south by the end of next week and begin retrograding to the west. The main storm track looks to move into Canada, thus putting Iowa in the middle of another potential heat wave. This is still at least two weeks away and could change in the days to come, but any heat wave is likely for the next several weeks.

NO FORECAST: There is no 7 day forecast this week, due to time constraints. This will return next Monday.
