Amtrak announced today that service on the California Zephyr
between Denver and Chicago will be shut down temporarily because of the flooding of the Missouri River. This will be effective for eastbound riders (coming from Denver) Thursday and westbound (from Chicago) on Friday. This is expected to last through Tuesday of next week if not longer. This will mean Fort Madison will be the only stop on Amtrak (They’re on the Southwest Chief line) in Iowa.
