SVR SATURDAY: There is a slight risk of severe weather outlooked from the Storm Prediction Center mainly south of a Missouri Valley to Dubuque line. The main threats will be from large hail and damaging winds. Storms will form along an advancing cold front that will be bringing slightly cooler, but more importantly drier air to the state. CAPE values will be highest across the southern counties where they may reach above 3000 J/kg with little if any capping layer. The storms should move out of the state into Illinois by the evening hours.

HEAT RETURN: A slight chance at a shower or thunderstorm on Monday will mark the return of heat and humidity once again, lasting several days before another storm brings another more widespread chance at rain Thursday, Friday and into the following weekend. Temperatures Tuesday and Wednesday will be similiar to yesterday’s readings but may be slightly cooler especially in the western counties where readings climbed into the upper 90s.

MO RIVER FLOODING: Flooding concerns continue along the Missouri River Valley. The river continues to rise slowly with additional rises through the weekend and next week likely. The river will reach flood stage at Sioux City this weekend and be in moderate flood by mid-week. Another update will be forthcoming this weekend.
