SVR WEATHER AGAIN?: The Storm Prediction Center has outlooked an area in southeastern Iowa for a slight risk of severe weather. This will be south of a Muscatine to Lamoni line. The main threats will be from large hail and damaging winds with a warm front that will be moving through the state during the evening and overnight hours.

REST OF WEEKEND: Sunday and Monday look to be mostly dry outside of some morning activity on Sunday and late afternoon and evening showers and storms on Monday. It won’t be a washout by any means, but make sure to keep your eye to the sky. Temperatures will be pleasant today and tomorrow with Monday seeing readings soaring into the mid 80s to lower 90s with heat indices exceeding 100 in some locations.

HEAT WAVE: A large ridge looks to set up Thursday through the following weekend into the first part of the following week. This will begin a possible heat wave that may last several days. Temperatures may easily be above 90° with heat indices over 100°. A warm front Thursday will spark a few showers and storms, otherwise the heat will build in and the spicket will be turned off, with just heat and humidity becoming the norm. We’ll have to see if this heat wave continues to pan out as it begins within the next 7 days and lasts well into voo-doo.

FLOODING: Several rivers that had been in flood earlier in the week have receded, however some new flood worries could be increasing along the Missouri River in western Iowa. Due to increased snowmelt over Montana (yes Montana), more water is flowing into the Missouri River basin. This along with heavy precipitation up there is leading to unusually high levels in the river. Some flooding concerns are possible over the next few weeks across the western sections of the state, where some flooding is ongoing at this time. We’ll update this as needed.
