SVR WX: There is a slight risk of severe weather for today and tonight across the southwestern third of the state. The main threat looks to be from large hail with damaging winds being an isolated threat. There is also a slight risk of severe weather for Sunday and Sunday night across the eastern third of the state. There is a enhanced risk in this area as well. More on that will come later today when the next Day 2 outlook comes out just after 12pm.

RAINY TIMES: There will be several days with several chances of showers and thunderstorms across the state. Not everyone will see rain everyday, nor will the rain be an all day affair. The driest days of the next week look to be Monday as one storm moves off and another replaces it, and Thursday as the second storm pulls out. Friday will see another storm move in to begin the upcoming Memorial Day Weekend, however it looks right now as if Sunday and Monday of the holiday weekend will be mostly dry (however that can change again in later model runs)

JUNE HEAT: Later in the model run, a large ridge looks to take shape across the southern half of the country encompassing Iowa. This may lead to the first heat wave of the year during the first few days of June. We’ll have to wait and see if this continues on later model runs.
