STORMY WEEKEND: The quiet last few days is coming to an end today with chances of showers and thunderstorms returning. There is a slight risk of severe weather for today and tonight across the southwestern counties of the state into Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas. The main threat across SW Iowa will be from large hail and possibly some strong gusty winds. Saturday’s risk includes the far eastern counties of the state, along with other threats south and southwest of the state, however there is a decent chance of an isolated severe storm across the entire state Saturday, with the main threats being from large hail and damaging winds. Heavy rainfall with this storm will also be a threat. QPF charts shows 1.5-3″ of rain over the next five days across the state.

SHORT BREAK: This storm will linger into next week with several chances of showers and thunderstorms through the middle of the week before a short intermission from the rainy weather returns late on Thursday into Friday of next week. Memorial Day weekend still looks active with chances of showers and thunderstorms the entire weekend, although Sunday and most of Monday look to be the drier of the three days.
