2011 Mississippi River Flooding Update #8

Mississippi River Flooding Forecast

The River has crested from LeClaire northward. It will crest later this weekend from Rock Island downstream to Keokuk. The chart at the top shows when the river will fall below flood stage at the locations. The river should begin dropping below flood stage early to middle of next week across the north (given no heavy rainfall in between then and now), with areas between Dubuque and the Quad Cities seeing the river drop below flood stage around the end of April, beginning of May. Areas downstream that have yet to see a crest will likely see the river drop below flood stage in the first week of May, however this doesn’t take into consideration additional precipitation in that time period which could prolong flooding concerns further into the month.
