WINTRY TUESDAY: A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect beginning at 7am this morning for NC Iowa and 1pm in NE Iowa (north of US Hwy 18). This will stay in effect until Wednesday morning. Snowfall amounts will be in the 1-3″ range mainly on the grassy areas, with some sleet mixed in as well. Areas to the south of US Hwy 18 will see mostly rain with some snow mixed in (between US Hwy 18 and US Hwy 20). Rainfall will be in the half to three quarters of an inch range. While this is taking place, just to the south and southeast, a severe weather outbreak is likely with all modes of severe weather possible across Missouri and central Illinois.

WET GOOD FRIDAY: Good Friday will be a wet Friday across the state as a quick moving storm system will be fast on the heels of this current system. Precipitation will break out across the western part of the state late on Thursday afternoon and evening and overspread the state during the overnight hours Thursday into Friday morning. Rainfall from this system will be in the one third to two thirds of an inch with isolated heavier totals. Temperatures should be warm enough that all the precipitation with the second storm system will be in the form of rain. However, readings all this week will be below average for the middle to latter half of April.

FLOODING: The Mississippi River has crested across the northeastern sections of the state. A slow fall is forecast in those locations. The river should crest at Dubuque later today or tonight, with crests taking place later in the week further downstream. The latest river forecast is below. There is also flooding on the Big Sioux River, West Fork Des Moines at Estherville, The Little Sioux River near Spencer and the Missouri River at Plattsmouth NE.
