Stormy Weekend Ahead

NOTE: No Forecast Video today due to travel.

SEVERE WX: Still looks like this weekend will be very active with showers and thunderstorms roaming the state. There is a chance of severe weather across the entire state on Saturday (mainly the afternoon and evening hours) and for the eastern half of the state on Sunday. The model runs have been trending slower with this storm. Yesterday’s video showed that it was going to be a Saturday afternoon through early Sunday event, now it looks like it will be a Saturday afternoon and evening event followed by a break and then a Sunday afternoon through early evening event as the cold front will be quickly exiting the state by sunset Sunday. All modes of severe weather will be possible, large hail, damaging straight line winds, and tornadoes. CAPE values will be at least 2000 J/kg with even higher amounts. There will be a weak to moderate cap, but its likely to be broken easily both Saturday and Sunday. Make sure you keep up to date on the latest with this storm system.

FLOODING: River flooding continues on the same rivers mentioned yesterday. The Mississippi River will remain at or above flood stage most likely for the rest of April into early May, depending on rainfall.

Forecast Precipitation through Monday Evening

Seeing the QPF Chart over the next five days, flooding will likely continue on these rivers and possibly more, as many rivers remain high if the forecasted 2-3″ of rain over this time period verifies.
