A few moderate showers and thunderstorms continue in Allamakee (where there was a warning that expired a few minutes ago) and Winneshiek counties in NE Iowa. Also a few scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms were extending from Lake Mills to Algona to Onawa. These storms are ahead of a cold front that is moving into the state at this time.
The heat advisory remains in effect for areas along and south of Interstate 80 until 7pm. Heat indices could go above 105 later this afternoon in those areas. Already at 11am Keokuk had a heat index of 110! Imagine what it could go to in a few hours.
