SNOW OR RAIN: The storm system next week could bring a plethora of problems to the state with rain and snow possible beginning in earnest Tuesday and lasting through Wednesday evening. Up to that point, there will be some light snow showers or flurries moving into the northern counties late today with the entire state getting in on the action Monday, however little accumulation will be possible.

Tuesday a low forms over the the southern Texas Panhandle and begins moving to the northeast. Warm air will flood into the state with readings moving above freezing changing the precipitation from snow or sleet to all rain across all but the far northern counties and NW where a mix will be possible. As the low moves just to the southeast of the state, colder air will sweep around on the backside switching the precipitation back to all snow during the day Wednesday. It will be when the switchover takes place with regards to the possible snow accumulations from this storm. The swath shown on the video is a good representation on where accumulating snow will fall from this storm system, however amounts are likely to change (the blue areas are 6″+), but Winter Storm Watches may be issued later today or Monday with this storm.

UPDATE on MID MARCH: The storm we;ve been going on for the last few days continues to be on this run, centered around St Patrick’s Day. That storm could be in similiarity to this one coming this week, but things could change as they always do in voo-doo country.
