Wind Chill Advisory Statewide Tonight

Wind Chill Advisory through Thursday AM

The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Chill Advisory for the entire state of Iowa. It will be in effect from 6pm this evening until 10am Thursday morning for the following counties, Audubon, Black Hawk, Boone, Bremer, Butler, Calhoun, Carroll, Cass, Cerro Gordo, Crawford, Emmet, Franklin, Greene, Grundy, Guthrie, Hamilton, Hancock, Hardin, Humboldt, Kossuth, Palo Alto, Pocahontas, Sac, Story, Webster, Winnebago, Worth, Wright, Allamakee, Chickasaw, Clayton, Fayette, Floyd, Howard, Mitchell and Winneshiek.

It will be in effect from Midnight tonight until 10am Thursday morning for the these counties, Adair, Adams, Appanoose, Clarke, Dallas, Davis, Decatur, Jasper, Lucas, Madison, Mahaska, Marion, Marshall, Monroe, Polk, Poweshiek, Ringgold, Tama, Taylor, Union, Wapello, Warren and Wayne.

It will be in effect from 10pm this evening until 8am Thursday morning for Harrison, Monona and Shelby counties.

It will be in effect from Midnight until 8am Thursday morning for Fremont, Mills, Montgomery, Page and Pottawattamie counties.

It will be in effect from 6pm this evening until 9am Thursday morning for Buena Vista, Cherokee, Clay, Dickinson, Ida, Lyon, O’Brien, Osceola and Sioux counties.

It will go into effect at 6pm this evening until 6am Thursday morning for Plymouth and Woodbury counties.

It will be in effect from 9pm this evening until 11am Thursday morning for Benton, Buchanan, Cedar, Clinton, Delaware, Des Moines, Dubuque, Henry, Iowa, Jackson, Jefferson, Johnson, Jones, Keokuk, Lee, Linn, Louisa, Muscatine, Scott, Van Buren and Washington counties.

Actual temperatures will drop into the single digits below zero over the southern sections of the state and double digits below zero over the northern and central counties. Along with 10-15mph winds, this will create wind chill readings of –15° to –30° through the overnight hours into the morning hours of Thursday. Frostbite will occur in less than 30 minutes in these conditions. The wind will slacken off by the morning hours as temperatures begin to rise.
