Midday Warnings and Advisories

Current Warnings and Advisories

Blizzard Warnings remain in effect across a large portion of central southern and eastern Iowa through tomorrow morning. Wind of 30-45mph are possible in these areas along with snowfall totals approaching 12-16″ in SE Iowa, with 6-12″ further to the NW. The Winter Storm Warning’s remain in effect in SW Iowa and far NE Iowa, where amounts will be lighter, however near blizzard conditions will be possible. Amounts of 6-9″ will be likely in these areas. Further to the NW, Winter Weather Advisories are in effect where snowfall amounts will be 3-6″ with some isolated heavier totals. Near Blizzard conditions will be possible, especially in the open areas.

The non-colored areas are under a Wind Chill WARNING, for strong winds along with temperatures dropping below zero in those locations. Wind Chills could easily reach -30° to -40°+ tonight and tomorrow morning. Some counties that are under Winter Weather Advisories and Winter Storm Warnings are also under Wind Chill Warnings or Wind Chill Advisories for that same reason.

If you have to be out anytime between now and Wednesday evening when the snow and wind should die down, make sure you take a winter survival kit with you. In some cases help may not come for quite a while if you get into trouble. It would be best to stay at home if at all possible.
