Above is the forecasted temperatures based on the 12z GFS Model data. It shows that temperatures will be climbing above average across a large portion of the area. (Average would be in the mid to upper 20s). Some places will get above the freezing mark, leading to some slow snowmelt over the area.
This next image shows the 12z GFS model run at 6pm Friday evening. It shows a storm system moving into the state from the NW. Unfortunately it’s another arctic front blasting south from the Arctic Circle as evidenced by the large 1044mb High located in Nunavut Province in Canada. That high will slide southward through next weekend leading to another drop in temperatures back below zero at that time.
Somethings could change with this forecast, but in anycase any warm up we might get won’t be a long one as more cold air seems ready to pounce on the state at a moment’s notice.
