Friday Morning Cold NAM vs GFS

Friday Morning Lows (12z NAM)

Friday Morning Lows (12z GFS)

Two different models, and two very different temperatures readings for Friday morning. The NAM, which has been very good on the storm systems and the amount of snow that will likely fall in each has a much warmer tone for Friday morning, with readings in the single digits above and below zero across the state. In contrast, the GFS continues to show MUCH colder temperatures for the same morning (Friday), with temperatures in the single digits, teens and even 20s below zero across the state and the region. Outside of this map, the GFS has Faribault MN (just north of Owatonna) at -30° Friday morning. Whereas the NAM may be too warm and the GFS may be too cold, the best guess would be somewhere in the middle, but depending on where snow falls from the next storm system (mainly in the southern counties) will determine where the cold air will set up for Friday morning.
