A Winter Weather Advisory is now in effect for areas mainly west of the Interstate 35 corridor in the state. This will remain in effect through Monday night in the western counties and Tuesday morning in the central counties of the state. Snowfall amounts will be heavy but will be falling over a long period of time (thus the reasoning for no Winter Storm Warning), amounts as indicated on the graphic above will range from 6-9″ in the central and northwestern sections of the state to 7-11″ across the far west and southwestern sections. Lighter snows will fall outside of the advisory area, with accumulations up to 4-6″ possible across the eastern counties by Tuesday. A Winter Weather Advisory may be issued later tonight or tomorrow morning for those sections of the state. Blowing snow could become a problem later on which may impact travel on the main roads Monday and Tuesday.
