Winter Weather

Another Weekend, Another Snow Storm

Winter Storm Watch from late Friday through late Saturday

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch from late on Friday night through late on Saturday night for the following counties, Clay, Dickinson, Emmet, Kossuth, Palo Alto, Pocahontas, Humboldt, Winnebago, Hancock, Wright, Worth, Cerro Gordo, Franklin, Mitchell, Floyd, Butler, Howard, Chickasaw, Bremer, Winneshiek, Fayette, Allamakee and Clayton.

According to the latest model runs, the heaviest snow looks to be setting up across the northern sections of the state, where snowfall amounts may exceed 6 inches in those locations, with heavier amounts possible further north in Minnesota and Wisconsin. Further south, the precipitation may stay as a rain/snow mix or plain rain for areas that have yet to receive any snow as yet.

This is an ever changing situation and may change rapidly in the next 24-36 hours. More watches, warnings and advisories may issued in the near future with regards to this winter storm.
