December Welcomes You with Weekend Snow

It is now the beginning of meteorological winter, and although the temperatures feel like winter, most of the state (except the NW) don’t have a snow cover. That might change by Friday night into Saturday, with accumulating snow possible. The latest indications show that accumulating snow is possible north of an Algona to Muscatine line roughly. It’s too early to determine how much snow as yet, but at least 2″ is possible north of the line mentioned earlier, with lighter amounts to the south. As always, things may and likely will change over the next few days. After the storm this weekend, temperatures are likely to plunge into Arctic Territory, with highs in the teens or lower 20s and lows in the single digits above and even BELOW zero.
