* AT 420 PM CDT…NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED SLOW MOVING THUNDERSTORMS WITH VERY HEAVY RAINFALL ACROSS THE WARNED AREA. RADAR ESTIMATES…WHICH HAVE BEEN CORROBORATED BY RAIN GAUGE MEASUREMENTS…INDICATED THAT TWO TO THREE AND A HALF INCHES OF RAIN HAS FALLEN OVER PORTIONS OF CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN DECATUR COUNTY. SIMILAR OR SLIGHTLY HIGHER AMOUNTS ARE ANTICIPATED INTO SOUTHERN WAYNE COUNTY.
* RUNOFF FROM THIS EXCESSIVE RAINFALL WILL CAUSE FLASH FLOODING TO OCCUR. SOME LOCATIONS THAT WILL EXPERIENCE FLOODING INCLUDE…CORYDON…LAMONI…LEON AND SEYMOUR. KILGORE CREEK AND STEEL CREEK…WEST LITTLE RIVER AND SMALLER TRIBUTARIES OF THE THOMPSON RIVER MAY BE AFFECTED.
AUTOMATED RAIN GAUGES IN LAMONI INDICATED THAT JUST UNDER TWO INCHES OF RAIN HAS FALLEN THERE…WHICH IS NOT WHERE THE HEAVIEST RAINFALL HAS OCCURRED.

EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM HEAVY RAINFALL WILL CAUSE FLOODING OF SMALL CREEKS AND STREAMS…HIGHWAYS AND UNDERPASSES. ADDITIONALLY…COUNTRY ROADS AND FARMLANDS ALONG THE BANKS OF CREEKS…STREAMS AND OTHER LOW LYING AREAS ARE SUBJECT TO FLOODING.
DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS SAFELY. TURN AROUND…DONT DROWN.
