Active Weather for Wednesday

Active and potentially severe weather is forecast to move back into the state on Wednesday. The Storm Prediction Center has outlined the southern half of the state under a slight risk of severe weather for the afternoon into the evening hours. The main threats will likely be from strong straightline winds and large hail, but a tornado can not be ruled out either. It will be dependent on the position of a warm front that is currently south of the state tonight, if it will be further north into the state or stay south of the state. If it does stay south of the state, the severe weather threat will be much less then it would be if it was further to the north. Rainfall could be heavy with any of the thunderstorms that do develop, but widespread flash flooding is not expected. The end of the week into the weekend will be cooler and drier, with seasonal readings in the low 70s with nighttime lows in the upper 40s to lower 50s.
