The Storm Prediction Center has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch effective until 8pm this evening for the following counties, Cedar, Clinton, Des Moines, Henry, Jackson, Jefferson, Johnson, Keokuk, Lee, Louisa, Muscatine, Scott, Van Buren, Washington, Appanoose, Davis, Lucas, Mahaska, Monroe, Wapello and Wayne.

Showers and thunderstorms have fired along and ahead of a cold front that is moving through the state this afternoon. The main threats will be from damaging straightline winds and isolated large hail. Most of the storms will be out of the state by this evening.
