The week began with another day of hot and humid weather across teh state. Late afternoon temperatures were in the low to mid 90s with heat indices approaching 100 in a few places. In western Iowa, winds have been gusting up to and over 40mph, making it feel like a blast furnace there. All of the thunderstorms have been staying well to the west and north of the state today. Tomorrow will see more clouds in the sky and temperatures will be a bit cooler, with highs generally in the 80s to around 90. Thunderstorms will be possible by the afternoon hours, although widespread severe weather is not likely, a few of the storms could become strong with large hail and damaging winds. Rain and thunderstorms will be possible again on Wednesday followed by slightly cooler readings for the rest of the week. While the readings may only be a few degrees cooler, dewpoints will be down into the mid to upper 50s, unlike the upper 60s to lower 70s they are now. There is another chance of rain for Memorial Day Weekend as well.
