Lots O’ Rain

Radar at 3:59am

A batch of light to moderate rain is continuing to move across the state early this morning. The heaviest rain is in SW and SC Iowa this morning and will mainly stay south of Interstate 80 across the state as it continues moving to the east. There have been a few embedded thunderstorms overnight across the southern tier of counties with a few locations receiving hail reports up to nickel sized (0.88 inch diameter). The rain will linger throughout the morning hours and will be moving out early this afternoon in the eastern counties, although a few scattered showers can not be ruled out through sunset. What will be behind the system will be much cooler weather with frosty mornings upcoming this weekend with the likliest being on Mother’s Day Morning.

More active weather will move back into the state next week.
