We’ve seen very cold weather across the state since Tuesday, and while we will see some relief, it doesn’t appear to come until after the weekend.
Firstly, we have had a large swing in temperatures over the past few months, this chart shows daily temperature reports in Des Monies from December 1st through today, January 7th.
While it may seem shocking, this is quite normal (this is Iowa after all), but it seems we will be holding on to a warmer pattern for much of January.
The Weekend, Monday
While the weekend will remain on the cold side, it will still be a slight improvement from today.
Most of the state didn’t get out of the single digits today, but for it looks like we should be in the middle teens at the least. Still cold, but an improvement. High’s still in the teens and lower 20’s for Sunday, but come Monday, most of us should hit the lower 30’s!
Looking Ahead
Looking ahead the Climate Prediction center is predicting between normal and slightly to moderately below normal tempretures for the January 12th-16th time frame.
Things start to appear above average for the January 14th-20th time frame.
Have a great weekend, and stay warm!
