Many saw their first round of accumulating snow last weekend, and it looks like we will see more snow this weekend, however this system looks to have a bigger impact than snow event the eastern part of the state had last week.

Let’s break it down…

Alerts in effect…

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for along and north of I-80, this will go in-effect at 3 o’clock tomorrow afternoon and expire at 6 Sunday evening.

Timing 

We will see two rounds… One for the afternoon and overnight Saturday, and another on Sunday.

Accumulations

Just a disclaimer… Accumulations mentioned here, are for BOTH rounds in total for this weekend.

Models have been fluctuating but I think the latest updates from the National Weather Service are on track on what I’m thinking, and what most people are thinking so I’ll share the graphics from the NWS with you…

Keep in mind that just because a map says you will get a certain amount of snow, doesn’t mean it will be exact. Snowfall maps are are good baseline but in reailty the amounts could be less or more than what is indicated on a map, there are just so many factors involved.

Personally, I think most areas won’t hit the 12 inch mark, but a few isolated areas might…

The temperatures are in the range where fluffier snow is likely, compared to the mushy event last week. Fluffy snow may be easier to shovel, but it’s also harder to drive on, so that is something to keep in mind.
