All of Iowa, Winter Weather

A Bit of Frost Tonight

Dew Points this afternoon across the state are ranging in the teens and 20s. With the dry air that is out there temperatures this afternoon have risen quickly into the upper 50s to mid 60s, but as soon as the sun sets temperatures will drop quickly back into the 30s and even a few upper 20s in some locations. With that the National Weather Service has issued a Frost Advisory for the east central portions of the state. The counties included in the frost advisory are, Benton, Buchanan, Cedar, Clinton, Delaware, Dubuque, Iowa, Jackson, Johnson, Jones, Keokuk, Linn, Louisa, Muscatine, Scott and Washington. The advisory goes into effect at 1am Sunday morning and will be in effect until 8am. Other locations will also see frost especially in northeast Iowa, but with the typical last frost being a few weeks away, an advisory there is not likely. Make sure you cover the plants that you will want to save tonight or bring them inside.

Readings over the next few days will be slightly warmer each day and night, with lows rising into the upper 30s to low 40s by early week and highs approaching or topping 70° by early to middle of next week.
