THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN LA CROSSE HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR…
FLOYD COUNTY IN NORTH CENTRAL IOWA…

* UNTIL 415 AM CDT

* AT 1214 AM CDT…DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCING
HEAVY RAIN ACROSS FLOYD COUNTY. UP TO TWO INCHES OF RAIN HAVE
ALREADY FALLEN, AND MORE IS COMING. FLASH FLOODING IS EXPECTED TO
BEGIN SHORTLY.

* SOME LOCATIONS THAT WILL EXPERIENCE FLOODING INCLUDE…
NORA SPRINGS…ROCKFORD…AND MARBLE ROCK.

ADDITIONAL STORMS ARE MOVING IN FROM THE WEST, AND WILL FALL OVER
THE SAME GENERAL AREA IN THE NEXT FEW HOURS. ADDITIONAL RAINFALL
AMOUNTS OF ANOTHER 1 TO 2 INCHES IS POSSIBLE THROUGH 2 AM.

FLOOD WATERS WILL PARTICULARLY AFFECT THE WINNEBAGO RIVER AND ITS
TRIBUTARIES.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM HEAVY RAINFALL WILL CAUSE FLOODING OF
SMALL CREEKS AND STREAMS…URBAN AREAS…HIGHWAYS…STREETS
AND UNDERPASSES AS WELL AS OTHER DRAINAGE AREAS AND LOW LYING SPOTS.

BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE
DANGERS OF FLOODING.

TURN AROUND…DON’T DROWN WHEN ENCOUNTERING FLOODED ROADS. MOST
FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN VEHICLES.
