NOTE: This is a quick note and it’s not as detailed as it should be.
The Storm Prediction Center has a slight risk of severe weather for today into tonight across a large chunk of the state, the southwestern counties are in an enhanced risk of severe weather where the threat may be higher. The main threats will be from large hail and damaging winds with any tornado threat likely to be confined to the southwestern counties of the state west and southwestward into Nebraska and Kansas. There is a chance as we have seen the last few days with regards to showing severe weather outlooks and then things change by later in the morning or midday. As this is being written, a complex of showers and thunderstorms (some strong to severe) are moving through the state. This may leave some boundaries where thunderstorms may form, however if storms continue to fire well into the morning, this may stabilize the atmosphere and lead to little if any thunderstorm development. Trends will have to be watched throughout the day for the potential for the threats to increase or decrease.
Outside the chances of storms, there will be some sunshine once again with readings getting into the 70s and 80s. It will be humid once again today as well. The overall threat looks to diminish later tonight with the threat waning off on Friday with only a marginal threat of severe weather. However the shower and thunderstorm chances don’t look to wane as there is a threat of precipitation daily through the weekend and into next week as well.
