Amber Alert Canceled for 15-Year-Old from Waterloo

UPDATE: As of 2:48 a.m., Iowa law enforcement have canceled the Amber Alert that was in effect. The girl was found unharmed.


WATERLOO, IA – For the second time in the week, state authorities are on high alert once again as an Amber Alert was issued by the Iowa Department of Public Safety early this morning.

Shakiya Kay Baker was abducted at 10:30 p.m. on April 29, 2016 from Waterloo, Iowa. The Waterloo Police Department made the determination that the life of the child was also in danger and requested an Amber Alert shortly thereafter, which was issued at around midnight statewide.

The child, an African-American female 15 years of age, is 5’2″ and 190 lbs. She has black hair and brown eyes, and is wearing a white zippered shirt, black stretch pants, and silver shiny shoes.

The suspect vehicle is a late 1990’s to early 2000’s light green or white conversion van, which may have a green stripe. The license plate information, as well as the destination of the abductors, were unknown.

The abductors were three African-American males with unknown attributes. They are confirmed to be armed and dangerous.
