Rain and More Rain This Weekend

A DREARY DAY: There will be a lot of clouds around today with chances of showers around as well. This doesn’t look to be an all-day rain but the chances will be there nevertheless. Highs today will be held down into the 40s and 50s north to around 60 south where the chances of rain will be a bit less.

WEEKEND RAINFEST: We look to have a small break on Friday for most of us with some breaks and perhaps a peak of sunshine or two. However clouds will be on the increase again across our western counties and a few showers are possible by the afternoon hours there. Highs Friday will be in the 50s and 60s. The rest of the weekend looks wet with several rounds of showers and thunderstorms possible. Severe weather is not expected with this system. Rainfall amounts around a half to one inch will be possible. Highs will be in the 50s on Saturday and Sunday with slightly warmer readings on Sunday as the chances of rain will be less on Sunday than on Saturday.

TRANQUIL WEEK: The weather pattern becomes quiet next week with the flow coming out of the northwest. A few disturbances look to miss the state to the northeast but may bring a few extra clouds in our northeastern counties Tuesday and Wednesday. Outside of that we should see partly to mostly sunny skies with readings in the 60s to start with slightly cooler readings on Thursday in our eastern counties where upper 50s may be possible. Temperatures then look to take a big leap into the 70s on Friday as warm ridge moves in from the west.

OVER THE POND: As we look at what the GFS is showing in the extended period, the weather turns active with shower chances returning next Friday night into the following weekend (just what everyone would want). This looks to leak into the following week as well with another high pressure shown nosing in from the north which may cut the precipitation chances off at mid-month. Readings would also drop a bit with that as well but otherwise they look to be close to seasonal levels with slightly cooler readings during any pronounced rainy days. Not a lot of confidence at this time frame, but we’ll monitor it as always.
