Another Batch of Rain Today – Iowa Weather Network Archives

MORE RAIN: More rain is on the way today across the state with another disturbance swinging in from the southwest. Overall, skies will be cloudy outside the rain shower activity and readings will be in the 60s for the most part. The rain looks to continue as we head into tonight and Thursday as well, however we will see sunshine coming back in the western counties by the midday hours. It won’t help readings however as 60s will be commonplace across the state for Thursday.

THE WEEKEND: Friday and Saturday look to bring sunshine to the entire state. Temperatures will be in the 60s on Friday with warmer readings on Saturday as winds will be out of the south and southwest bringing the warmer air back into the state. We should see temperatures back into the 70s for part of the state on Saturday. As we head into Saturday night and Sunday, a disturbance is shown to move through the state that could bring a chance of some showers and perhaps a thunderstorm. This also looks to last into Monday as well.

NEXT WEEK: We’ll be in between systems for most of Tuesday with increasing cloudiness in the western counties and possible showers by later in the afternoon there. It will be cooler as well with highs in the 50s to lower 60s across the state. The rain will move through the state Tuesday night into next Wednesday with readings looking to be rather cool next Wednesday due to the constant rain that the GFS is hinting at. We may see readings staying in the 50s for a large part of the state with a slight chance some areas may not even get out of the 40s. It’s something we’ll keep an eye on over the coming days.

ACTIVE END: As we gander at what the GFS is showing for the end of April and into early May, the active weather pattern is shown to continue through the end of next week with only a slight break in the activity on Thursday (28th) before a fairly strong system moves in for Friday (29th) into the following weekend. This is shown to keep precipitation around through the 2nd of May with a slight break and another system at the end of the period around Cinco de Mayo (May 5th) that could bring more precipitation to the state at that time. Readings are looking to be seasonally cool at the end of April into the first of May with more seasonal readings toward the end of the model run as winds are shown to switch back out of the south. It’s speculation at this time what might occur, just looking for any trends at this time.
