Sunshine and More Sunshine

A DRY WEEK: No real changes for the rest of the week and into the weekend with mainly sunny skies and dry weather for the time being. A storm system will be encroaching into the Plains later this week but it will have a tough time moving into the state due to High Pressure to our east and an upper level feature out in the Atlantic bottling everything up. We may see some extra clouds late Friday onward in our western counties but that would be about it. Highs will be in the 60s and lower 70s today through the end of the week. With the amount of dry weather and dry ground, the risk of fire will be high through the rest of the week as well.

A DAB OF WETNESS: As we head into Sunday, the chances of precipitation finally begin to increase across the state as the storm system gets close enough to possibly spark some isolated showers and thunderstorms. It doesn’t look to be widespread at this time with some drier air coming back into the northern counties of the state by Monday afternoon. The southern counties may continue to see rain chances through early Tuesday morning before that moves south of the state and High Pressure takes control once again with more dry weather in store through the middle of next week and temperatures looking to remain in the 60s and lower 70s.

FORWARD THINKING: As we look further into the extended period, a system moves in late next week (next Thursday night into Friday) with a chance of showers and thunderstorms. This could be our next widespread chance of precipitation across the state. This is shown to be followed by colder air coming in for a few days which may bring the last chance of seeing some frost across at least the northern counties of the state. Readings are shown to rebound toward the end of the period with another system over the Plains about ready to move in our direction.
