ANOTHER COOL UNSETTLED DAY FOR SOME: Another disturbance will be moving through the eastern counties of the state today with a chance of some showers possible. The far western counties may see some sunshine with readings in the middle and upper 50s there. The eastern counties will struggle to get out of the upper 40s. We may see some lingering cloudiness in our far eastern and northeastern counties even into Friday as the pattern continues to remain unsettled over the Great Lakes. Meanwhile the rest of the state will get in on some sunshine, but it won’t really warm readings that much. Highs on Friday will range from near 40 in our northern and northeastern counties to the middle 50s in the far west and southwestern counties. Saturday morning could be the chilliest morning we’ve seen in a while with lows getting down into the upper teens through the 20s across the state.

WARMER WEEKEND: Even after a cool start to the weekend, temperatures look to warm up Saturday and especially on Sunday. Winds should switch out of the south by the late morning or afternoon hours on Saturday. This should help to boost readings into the 50s to near 60 in the western half of the state while the eastern half is likely to remain in the 40s for the most part. Skies will be mostly sunny. A storm system will be moving in late Saturday night through the day on Sunday with a chance of some scattered showers and perhaps a thunderstorm or two. This run is a bit faster than what we saw yesterday by about 12 hours or so. We still could see some lingering clouds around late Sunday into Sunday night but most of the precipitation should be just to the south and east of the state by sunset on Sunday. Highs should reach the 50s and 60s on Sunday with mainly cloudy skies outside the chance of showers around.

NEXT WEEK: We’ll still have some lingering clouds across the southern and southeastern counties of the state on Monday with the system moving away. Skies will be clearing across the rest of the state with readings in the upper 40s through the middle 50s. We should see similar readings on Tuesday with plenty of sunshine around. Lows Tuesday and Wednesday morning look to be at or below freezing for most of the state. However winds turn back to the south once again Wednesday and this should bring the readings into the 50s to near 60 in the western counties on Wednesday with 50s and 60s across the entire state on Thursday and Friday of next week.

LOOKING OUT: As we look at the extended period on the GFS, the weather pattern looks fairly quiet until the 17th and 18th when a system is shown moving into the area with chances of precipitation at the time. The weather looks unsettled through the end of the period but with no real discernable storm systems moving through the area. Temperatures look to be near to slightly above seasonal levels, but am not confident this far out at this time.
