An Irish Spring, A Hint of Winter

THE POT AT THE END OF THE RAINBOW: We have a bit of an unsettled pattern over the next few days with chances of showers possible each day during afternoon heating. This will be due to cold air aloft and some disturbances moving through the area along with any sunshine we can get to help destabilize the atmosphere. Some of the precipitation at night could mix with a little snow but don’t look for any accumulations. Highs today will be in the 40s and 50s with those temperatures dropping a bit more on Friday with only 40s likely. The chances of precipitation will be slight at around 20-30% (thus why it isn’t shown on our forecast as we typically leave them out when chances are 20% or less). This unsettled pattern looks to last through Sunday when the weather begins to dry out but our flow will still be out of the northwest keeping our temperatures at or slightly below seasonal levels.

LUCKY CHARMS NEXT WEEK: As we look at next week, Monday will bring some strong winds out of the southwest ahead of the next system that will swing through the state late Monday night into Tuesday. This will bring a chance of some showers and perhaps a thunderstorm to the state. Temperatures look to bounce back into the 50s and 60s across the state ahead of this system. A slight break late Tuesday before another system moves in from the west on Wednesday with another chance of some showers and thunderstorms. This looks to last into Thursday as colder air comes in once again. We could see some wintry precipitation mixing in with the rain late Thursday into Thursday night. It’s something we’ll be watching in the coming days.

LOOKING FOR LEPRACHUNS: Looking through the rest of March, the pattern continues to look active with another system moving through on the 26th and 27th. This would bring a chance of rain and perhaps some snow to the state as well. Mind you this is still just model data, not a forecast. We’ll watch that nevertheless. Further along, temperatures will be below seasonal levels to end the month with some moderation as we head into the month of April. The luck of the Irish may keep Spring-like weather around, but winter can still come back to bite us.
