THROUGH THE WEEKEND: Rain will continue over the eastern counties of the state today and into tonight before it moves off to our east. Skies over the western counties will become partly sunny today as cooler temperatures move in. It will still be above the seasonal norm for this time of year, but we won’t be seeing the 70s we’ve been seeing the last two days across a good portion of the state. Highs today will be in the 50s and lower 60s. Thursday and Friday will be partly to mostly sunny with similar readings to today as well. Another system looks to move in for the weekend which will bring some chances of showers and some cooler temperatures with the amount of cloudiness around. We could see readings in the 40s to lower and middle 50s both Saturday and Sunday. Any sunshine we could get could see those readings boosted a little bit.

INTO NEXT WEEK: Winds will turn out of the south as we head into Monday and especially Tuesday. This will bring the warm temperatures back into the state with temperatures getting back into the 60s and perhaps the 70s once again. This will be ahead of a storm system that will be moving into the state late Tuesday night through the day on Wednesday. This will likely bring a chance of some showers and perhaps some thunderstorms to the state. Cooler air moves in for the end of the week dropping the highs back into the 40s to around 50.

FURTHER ALONG: Looking at the extended period, the GFS shows a few systems moving through the area. None of them look to be of any significance. Temperatures during the period are shown to be fairly close to seasonal levels, with some cooler periods in the wake of the systems. See no real consistency in the mid to long range at this time. We’ll watch for any possible trends upcoming.
